ASON Pioneer Students – 2016

These photographs capture the pioneer students of the Arawa School of Nursing (ASON) in 2016, marking an important chapter in the history of nursing education in Bougainville.
The images feature students from the Northern, Central and Southern regions, as well as a group photograph taken in front of their early office and classroom.
These pioneer students represent the beginning of a new chapter in nursing education in Bougainville. Their journey remains an important part of the institution’s history as ASON continued its development into what is now known as the Bougainville College of Nursing (BCON).
We proudly preserve these photographs as part of our institutional heritage, honouring our beginnings and celebrating the journey of nursing education in Bougainville.
